That's too bad. She is such a wonderful gymnast. I hope she changes her mind. Olympics is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Perhaps Romania needs to put more emphasis on revamping their gymnasts' enthusiasm than on winning medals (which puts too much pressure on them). - Vicki

Very sad news for gymnastics lovers. Ana was one of the most beautiful gymnasts to watch and I will miss her in London. I was expecting Ana to qualify to BB and FX finals and seriously challenge for gold on both apparatus. There is no comment about exactly how bad the injury is.
It seems the new code, with its emphasis on difficulty is acting as a deterrent to gymnasts who are more naturally artistic and less naturally strong...and it seems, more prone to injury. Can this problem be fixed, please? - Jollybarb

Absolutely devastating. One of a handful of gymnasts today that truly captivate the viewer. Her artistry, skill and presence will be missed. Not to mention those 'to die for' leaps. We need more Ana's on the world stage. Good luck Ana! - JessL

This is a huge blow for Romanian Gymnastics, too bad she couldn't hold on until after the Olympics which is less than 200 days away. This is very unfortuante considering she would have been a contender for the AA and on events like the Balance Beam. This is such saddening news. - DowisK

First Kaeslin and now her...she had every chance to be an AA contender but they didn't say how severe her elbow injury is! I can't think of anyone who could possibly replace her... - ChainChomp2

This was heartbreaking news to wake up to this morning. Ana was for sure one of the gifted gymnasts I was looking forward to at the Olympics.
No matter what I will always believe that Belu and Bitang once again have crushed a gifted star under ala Marinescu, Cojocar, and Munteanu.

Good bye Ana-and the very best of luck in all of your future endeavors.
You will be missed in gymnastics. :*( - Margaret Tudor

oh no, this is such a sad news...I'm shocked that she couldn't at least try to compete at the olympics and retire after that (or not retire if she medal there and it motivates her), I mean competing at the olympics is once in a lifetime opportunity for most gymnasts.
she was the gymnast I was looking forward to see the most at the olympics.
this is such a huge loss to this sport.

ana - you will definitely be missed a lot, your artistry was such a refreshing thing in nowadays' (mostly ugly) gymnastics. - dragonair
