Coached by Randy Jepson, Penn State finished the meet with a 38.45 team score on rings, and ended up 0.800 ahead of five-rotation leader Oklahoma.

Oklahoma, coached by Mark Williams, finished its night on vault with a 36.10 team score. Although this was the highest team total of the night on vault, it dropped the Sooners to second place. Oklahoma won the team title in 2005 and 2006.

Penn State, the 2004 team champion, placed fourth in 2005 and 2006.

Members of the winning team were Shaun Antonio, Nissen-Emery Award winner Matt Cohen, Allen Harris, Derek Helsby, Vladi Klurman, Santiago Lopez, Tommy Ramos, Casey Sandy, Noam Shaham and Nick Virbitsky.

Taqiy Abdullah-Simmons and Jonathan Horton led OU, sharing the team's high score of the night (9.70) on rings.

In the all-around, Abdullah-Simmons placed first over Illinois' Wesley Haagensen and Horton, who tied for second. Last year, Horton won the title, Haagensen was fourth and Abdullah-Simmons was sixth.

The competition concludes Saturday with the individual event finals. Live scoring will be available on the Penn State Web site.
