Morgan Hurd of First State Gymnastics in Newark, Del., plans to compete in the all-around at the P&G Championships in Anaheim, Calif., next week, but she might not be at 100 percent. Hurd had elbow surgery 10 weeks ago, which is why she competed on only two events at the recent U.S. Classic in Chicago.

"Our recovery has been slow and steady, and every day is a new challenge," said her coach Slava Glazounov, a former Russian national team member in acrobatics (Men's Four). "We have our limitations and want Morgan to recover fully. Despite all of this, Morgan is pushing through and will compete all four events."

Hurd, a first-year senior who turned 16 on July 18, was featured in the June issue of International Gymnast, in which she stated her goal was a top-three finish in the all-around next week.

"We might have a small adjustment on bars due to the elbow," Glazounov told IG. "Other events will stay the same with a possible upgrade on floor exercise. This week and next will determine her routines. Her goal is to do her best in Anaheim and have a shot at the (2017) world team."
