Gymnasts from the host nation won seven medals, including gold on men's floor exercise and women's uneven bars, in the first day of finals at the FIG World Challenge Cup of Ljubjlana on Saturday.

Rok Klavora tumbled to the top score on floor exercise, where he was the only gymnast with a Difficulty score over 6.0. His routine included a 1-1/2 twist, punch double front; whip-half, double twisting front, front-full; 2-1/2 twist, punch barani, Thomas; double twist; and a stuck Arabian double front.

With Klavora's gold in Ljubljana, he extended to three his streak of consecutive Challenge Cup floor medals. He won silver on the event at the Challenge Cup of Doha in late March, as well as the Challenge Cup of Cottbus earlier this month.

Vasily Mikhalitsyn of Belarus earned the top Difficulty and Execution scores on pommel horse to take gold on that event over Slovenia's Sašo Bertoncelj, who won silver. Bertoncelj tied for bronze on the pommel horse n Doha and Cottbus.

Fifth on rings in Doha, İbrahim Çolak of Turkey easily won rings, with a D-score that was 0.50 higher than his nearest rival, Ukraine's Yevgen Yudenkov.

In the women's competition, Slovenia won two medals on both events contested on Saturday.

Paula Mejías of Puerto Rico performed a handspring front-full and double-twisting Tsukahara to win vault over Slovenians Teja Belak and Tjaša Kysselef, who placed second and third, respectively. Belak was second on the event in Doha. Kysselef earned her third consecutive Challenge Cup vault bronze. She was third in Doha and Cottbus, as well.

On uneven bars, Slovenia's Ivana Kamnikar had only the fourth-highest D-score, but her field-leading E-score nudged her 0.05 points ahead of silver medalist Farah Ann Abdul Hadi of Malaysia for the win. Kamnikar showed off beautiful extension and foot form in her routine (giant blind to piked Jaeger; bail, shoot to high; double front). Belak earned the bronze.

Competition concludes Sunday with the remaining five finals.
