The Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation does not have the funds to send its gymnasts to the upcoming European championships, the federation announced Tuesday at a press conference. The political crisis in Ukraine has led to lack of crucial funds for sports, officials said, leaving the Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation unable to afford the 38,000 euros needed for the trip to Bulgaria. The European championships this month in Sofia serve as a qualifier to both the Youth Olympic Games this summer and the first European Games next year.

World and Olympic champion Igor Korobchinsky, vice president of the Ukrainian Gymnastics Federation, said the federation was appealing to the International Gymnastics Federation for aid.
