Two-Time Olympic Champion Aihara Dies at 79

Nobuyuki Aihara, a two-time gold medalist at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome, died Tuesday at age 79. Aihara won gold on floor exercise and with the Japanese team in Rome, four years after winning a team silver in Melbourne. His wife, Toshiko Shirasu, was a member of the Japanese women's bronze medal-winning team at the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo. At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, son Yutaka Aihara helped the Japanese men win a team bronze.
