Former St. Catharines Collegiate coach Lenke Szathmary, who spent more than 50 years in artistic gymnastics, died Thursday at age 92. A native of Hungary, Szathmary became a lifetime member of Gymnastics Canada Gymnastique upon her retirement in 1986, having touched countless lives through her coaching.

"When any of 'her girls' seemed to be drifting down a wayward path, there was a conversation about it in her office," recalled Jennifer Pellegrini, one of Szathmary's gymnasts at St. Catharines in Ontario. "How she knew things, I'll never know. But she knew."
