Romania's Catalina Ponor and the Chinese men swept the remaining titles as competition concluded at the 5th Doha Cup, held Friday at the Aspire Dome in Qatar.

Ponor — a triple gold medalist at the 2004 Olympic Games — won both women's titles Friday. On balance beam, she wobbled on her opening switch ring leap but hit the rest of her tricky set (round off, two-foot layout; double turn; Onodi, ff back pike; front aerial, ff layout; switch leap Kochetkova) before sticking her double pike dismount (6.5 Difficulty score).

The 24-year-old Romanian upgraded her floor routine from qualification, tumbling a double layout, two whips to tucked full-in, an untidy triple full and a double pike. Teammate Diana Bulimar, the top qualifier, was less steady on her landings Friday but impressed with her tumbling as well (double layout; 1 1/2 to double pike; piked full-in; double tuck).

Three different Chinese men won gold medals, adding to China's two titles on Thursday: Du Wei (vault), Guo Weiyang (parallel bars) and Zou Kai (high bar).

Zou — whose foot form still leaves a lot to be desired — crushed the field with a monster 7.9-D score. The three-time Olympic champion swung a half Tak to layout Tkatchev into a Rybalko into layout Jaeger; Endo full to Winkler; Tak-full to Yamawaki and stuck layout double-double.

FIG competition continues next weekend with the World Cup in Zibo, China.
