Puerto Rico Picks Up Three More Golds

The host men's team won half the golds at the finals of the 15th Puerto Rico Cup, held Saturday and Sunday at El Palacio de los Deportes in Mayagüez.

2008 Olympian Luis Rivera, the all-around champion Friday, claimed another gold medal on men's vault. Rafael Morales won the title on pommel horse and 2004 Olympian Luis Vargas won the gold on high bar.

The United States, second to Puerto Rico in Friday's team competition, earned golds on still rings from Brandon Wynn and on parallel bars from Tyler Mizoguchi. All-around bronze medalist Victor Rosa (Brazil) won floor exercise.

Canada dominated the women's competition with five gold medals. Quebec's Bianca Dancose-Giambattisto won titles on both uneven bars and balance beam. Junior national champion Victoria Moors won gold medals on vault and uneven bars, and Natalie Vaculik won balance beam.

Senior all-around champion Jessica Gil (Colombia) won senior floor exercise. Yamilet Peña (Dominican Republic) won vault with the highest score of the women's finals.

Junior all-around champion Valeria Pereyra, who won Germany's Pre-Olympic Youth Cup in May, won another gold medal in Puerto Rico on junior floor exercise.
